Introduction
In previous note, we have read some statements by Hon. Powes Parkop, MP, the Governor of National Capital District (NCD) Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea regarding "fear" as follows.
- ‘Don’t be afraid’ – give Bougainville, West Papua freedom, says Parkop
- Parkop urges residents to make city a safe place for women
- Parkop backs W. Papua, B’ville independence
- Free West Papua: Parkop Calls for Cooperation, minute -0.25-0.27
The question is "How to Defeat the fear?" or " how to raise up the fear? "
There are at least three answers to this question. The first answer is according to the "Universal Healing Tao System". Second one is according to the Christian faith, or biblical teaching. And the third one based on Melanesian Wisdom that we inherited from our ancestors.
Solution One: UHTS System: "Two Kidneys", Darkness, Cool, and Fear"
Solution Two: The Bible, Mathew 10:28, "And Have No Fear of those Who Put Death to the Body"
This is a "direct statement" of Jesus when He was sending His disciples to the world, to many nations in the world. He also gave them authority to do miracles, and the main miracle being to save human soul to the truth. In Verse "1 Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness." He told the disciples to go everywhere in the world, and He said the should not fear of anything or anyone:

28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
31 So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
The Holy Bible, New International Version, Jesus Sends Out the Twelve
This verse says because the disciples are being sent with the power of God and Holy Spirit, and because they are bringing the Good News, they should not "fear" anyone, or anything. Another verse we see from 1 John 3:21, says we should not fear anyone or anything if what we believe is the "truth" and we are righteous in our decision and our actions. We should believe what we are doing is right and not to fear:
"1 John 3:21–22 (NKJV): 21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God. 22"
This verse tells us very simple thing to do, "check our own heart to see what our heart is telling us". The Bible is not asking us to "check our dreams", or "Check our feelings" or "check what the other people are saying", or "check what the news is on facebook or website. It says, "check our heart", with a simple questions as follows::
- Does my heart condemn me for supporting West Papua independence? or
- Does my heart condemn me for NOT Supporting West Papua independence campaign?
We can add more questions such as follows:
- Does my heart condemn me if I keep quiet when other Melanesians in West Papua are being slaughtered in their own homeland called New Guinea Island?
It is not me, it is not what I tell you, it is not what other people say, but each of our own heart is the perfect person to consult and check. And if we are confident, let os "fear not!", we have to speak the truth bravely, openly, clearly.
Indonesia does not believe in Jesus, but Melanesians are FEARFUL of them
However, all Melanesians and particularly Melanesian elites are fear-full of Indonesia. Another aspect of "fear not!" is to do with "who is in our side". If the Lord is our helper, we should not fear at tll: "Hebrews 13:6, KJV: "So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me." ...
We are Christians, we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ who have sacrificed His life on the cross, who have gone to the places of the death, and who has defeated the "death", risen from the death and who will come back to welcome all of us who believe in Him and who follow his Words. One of His Words is "FEAR NOT!", as the Lord is our helper.
God is not only our helper but 2 Timothy 1:7 New King James Version (NKJV) says "7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." Thus the spirit within us Christian people is the spirit of power, love and sound mind, NOT THE SPIRIT OF FEAR.
If it is true that Melanesians are Christian people in majority, and countries in Melanesia are Christian countries, then those Christian countries have Holy Spirit, the Spirit of power, and of love and of a sound mind.
If it is true that Melanesians are Christians in majority, then those Melanesian leaders are also fearless, they are beyond fear, because we have the Holy Spirit, that is, the spirit of love, of power and of sound mind, NOT THE SPIRIT OF FEAR.
Indonesian uses ISIS, Jihadist, and Islam extremists as the backbone of the operations against Free West Papua campaign. They operate by terrorizing all Melanesian leaders, by spreading rumors, by spreading terror and intimidation, by saying Indonesia is more powerful than Australia, than Papua New Guinea, than the USA. In other words, they are telling us Muhammad is bigger than Jesus. How come these Christian countries who believe in Jesus who have risen from the death still fearful of Indonesia that grows so many terrorist groups and organisation?
Closing Statement: "DEFEND THE TRUTH and FEAR NOT to do that!"
Many people in the world think the struggle for West Papua independence is a political issue. Many others think this is an economic issue, because many Melanesians in West Papua want to control more companies and businesses operating in West Papua.
Others in Papua New Guinea in particular look at this problem as an internal problem between Indonesian government and the people of West Papua, who live in their island called West Papua, who are Indonesians by their language, by their skin, by their hair and by their origin.
Others in Papua New Guinea think that Indonesia is a very big country, Indonesia is so powerful, nobody will be able to defeat Indonesia, therefore, the best solution is fix the legal and economic system in West Papua so that Melanesians in West Papua are protected, not killed anymore. They think that getting Indonesians out from New Guinea Island is like demanding the sun to raise from West and set in the North.
Many in Papua New Guinea are fearful. Many Melanesian leaders are fearful. That is why they say, "West Papua issue is a sensitive issue". What is causing it sensitive? They are saying "it is dangerous to talk about West Papua". They are saying, "I am scared of talking about West Papua!" These leaders are telling us,
- "We are not Christians!
- We do not have Holly Spirit! Our Spirit is Weak!
- We cannot do a lot!
- Indonesians can do a lot of damage!
- Jesus cannot defend His followers called Melanesians.
- Indonesians have won the Act of Free Choice, by lies and manipulations, and we Melanesian leaders are fearful of telling the truth about this manipulation.
We need to ask our heart" "What is our heart telling us about this fear?"
Only those Melanesian leaders who are
- truly Christians
- with Holy Spirit their hearts
will speak the "truth", openly, honestly and clearly to all parties to solve the problem.
What Powes Parkop is doing is just that. He is inviting all of us, Melanesians, Indonesians, Westerners, Easterners, Northerners, Southerners, all of us to be brave, raise up beyond fear, and speak the truth
- that the Act of Free Choice in 1969 in West Irian has violated basic principles of human rights, democracy and international laws
- that the human rights violations in West Papua is already clearly showing a "Slow motion of genocide" that will finally wipe out Melanesians from their own home-island, Western part of the Isle of New Guinea
- that the best and civilized solution to this problem is by giving a proper chance for all Melanesians in West Papua to defermine own political future
- that we should tell the world that West Papua independence is a Good News for all parties, not a disaster, not a problem, but a solution to an ongoing problem of colonialism.
